Addition to the Family

During the last couple months Mark had been spending far too much time at the SPCA (unknown acronym for the animal shelter in Ithaca). It was becoming apparent that he was serious about a new addition to our family. Unfortunately there were far too many barriers... for example: Mel didn't want to be cleaning up dog hair or smelling stinky dog all the time, we don't have an actual yard so we couldn't adopt an outside dog, we needed a dog that we knew would be OK with a two year old terrorizing it, we didn't want a wimpy lap dog that couldn't be a running partner and we didn't want to adopt from a horrible pet store that charges $750 per animal!

At this point the research started and we found that there were dogs out there that would fit our lifestyle. Two days after the decision was made we found Olive on Craig's List. One year old Schnauzer/ Poodle mix (no shedding!) that was already potty trained and was already used to a two year old messing with it. She did choose to run away and stay lost for about 24 hours (the coldest night of the year)- but we found her and have really enjoyed her since.

Hey it's great to see your update, Mason is so cute! I love his long hair. And cute dog. Lucky yours does not shed. Ours is terrible. So if she comes in she can only stay in the kitchen so it is slightly easier to clean up. Those southern Utah pictures look so inviting, especially when it is so cold. Take care!

Well it's about time! I recognived Mason. He is getting so big. So you broke down and got another dog. Sad to say so did we. Mine sheds though. Great news, we are moving back to Utah! Lehi area. Justin started his own business. We are planning a trip to Disney World in April if you feel like coming down.

HELLO MARK and MEL, I found your blog on Lael's blog!!! We have been thinking of you guys. I tried to find an address for you guys on the whitepages, but New York has a lot of people and it didn't quite work. We wanted to send a Christmas card and didn't know where! I enjoyed reading about your adventures, which by the way are NOT lame, and know we can stay in touch. I also started a blog last month. I as well buckled under the pressure. We are glad you are doing well. We miss you guys!

You have a dog!? That's so fun! We personally are not pet people at all, but we think is way fun when other people find pets that they love. We'll have to come over and see Olive sometime. And Olive is a cute name (I'm assuming you kept the same name).
